On March 13, 2023, surrounded by family, the Reverend Antoine Lathlin died. He was a graduate of Henry Budd College who served at one time as the priest-in-charge at Church of the Messiah, Opaskwayak Cree Nation as well as chaplain at the local hospital. He was remembered with wakes on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19, with the funeral service on Monday, March 20, at Church of the Redeemer, Opaskwayak Cree Nation with Bishop William Cliff presiding with the help of clergy and lay readers from the area. Rest eternal grant unto Antoine, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him.
